  • What is HooHacks?

    HooHacks, previously Hack.UVA, is a programming event that will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 to Sunday, March 3, 2019 where you, along with other developers, designers, and entrepreneurs work together to create a web or mobile application/platform from scratch. Prizes will be awarded to the top hacks. There is no entrance fee and all meals are free .

  • Who can attend?

    HooHacks welcomes all current students who are at least 18 years old. If you are an organization interested in sponsoring the event, please contact hackersuva-contact@virginia.edu.

  • Is there a Slack??

    There will be soon!

  • Is there Free Parking for the Event?

    We will have free parking at Scott Stadium for the whole weekend! Scott Stadium is right accross from Rice Hall, one of our major hacking buildings.

  • When can I register?

    Registration will open soon!

  • How big can my team be?

    Between 3 and 7 feet tall. But seriously, you may work in a team with up to four people.

  • Can I come even if I'm inexperienced?

    HooHacks is a great opportunity for new hackers. There will be tech talks and personal support from mentors at the event.

  • Will there be travel reimbursement?

    We will be providing busses to most large Universites around UVA this year. We will also do travel reimbursements on a case by case basis. You will have the opportunity to apply for travel reimbursement through our registration system.

  • What should I bring?

    Bring your laptop, phone, and chargers!

  • How does judging work?

    Judging criteria will be released closer to the date of the hackathon.

  • Is there code of conduct?

    Yes, we abide by the Major League Hacking Code of Conduct .
